Thanksgiving update

Good Morning Everyone
The long awaited first surgery took place on Wednesday. He finally got back into his room around midnight. Mom and I and Philip and Sean spent some time with him yesterday for Turkey Day. Larry knew it was Thanksgiving but it was just too soon after surgery for him to be able to enjoy it. I must say though at times I think he was enjoying that "Morphine High". He is no longer in traction but still has those big blue boots on. He was running a slight fever, but that was getting better as the day went on. When I called last night to check on him he was doing much much better. The fever was gone and he was much more comfortable. I believe they will have him standing today for the first time. That is a huge step for Larry. That means he is so close to being back on Cape Cod. I will call tonight to see if that really happens today. When Larry was told by the nurse that he was probably going to stand the next day, his response was "that's probably gonna hurt".
He hardly ever complains of pain and he is so ready to take a breath of fresh air. I hope they open that window of the ambulance when it crosses that bridge, so he can smell Cape Cod.
Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers. We truly believe that having so many that care about Larry is what gets him through this.
Pamela
